"War and peace: evacuation" - the new documentary series devoted to V9 day

On the eve of Victory Day Inter presents new documentary series "War and peace: Evacuation". Everybody knows about heroic pages of the Second World War, but there were other unrenowned sides of the war which were consciously kept silent. One of these sides is life in evacuation. In June 1941 millions of people - Ukrainians, Russians, Belorussians - immediately left their homes and went thousands kilometers away from the war - without packing their belongings, without saying farewell. They left for Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tadzhikistan, Siberia, Ural where they became a special society - evacuees. Their return lasted more than half a century.

How did these people with different religions, outlooks and traditions live at one territory? Inter's documentarians reconstructed that tragic events, which were left only in the memory of witnesses. As a result they produced the 4-serial documentary "War and Peace: Evacuation", the sequel of the 8-serial film "War and Peace: Occupation" which was awarded the "Teletriumph" prize in 2007 in the nomination "Documentary".

17 million people from Ukraine, Russia and Belorussia were evacuated - it is not a big number compared to 80 million people who remained at the occupied territory. It was almost impossible for individuals to be evacuated - usually whole enterprises were evacuated together with working staff. Plants, libraries, museums carried out their property leaving inhabitants at the occupied territories.

The film "War and Peace" shows different aspects of life in evacuation. Four series - "Escape", "Another life", "Cultural front" and "Return" - are filmed in a chronological order - from the first months of war to our days.
